Meeting Called to Order
- Meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Thompson. Individuals attending the meeting introduced themselves.
Approval of December Minutes
- Bill Freischel motioned to approve the December minutes, seconded by Kim Woldengen, motion approved.
Treasurer's Report — Camie Pederson
- Camie Pederson presented the January Report — there is $19,942.42 in the money market account, $11,374.30 in the checking account, and $39,107.64 in the Boom Fund, possible to purchase another cache? Bill Freischel motioned to approve the Treasurer's Report, seconded by Jayshree Desai, motion approved.
Committee Report — Community Awareness — Kim Woldengen
- Kim is working on press releases and the Wakota CAER information packets.
Committee Report — Training and Exercise — Hans Neve
- Boom School — it was decided to have the same schedule as last year — June hold one 2-day school geared for new students and July hold two 1-day refresher schools. Will again have a 3-tier registration, River Cooperative members first, then Wakota CAER members and third open to outside. Once the dates are confirmed, a notice will be sent to all members. With the number of possible students from Marathon and Flint Hills, will look into possibility of having a 3rd session of classes if instructors are available.
- Radios — there are system changes and the radios need to be re-programmed. MPCA will collect, send them to MNDoT for reprogramming and then return.
Planning Committee — Pete Herpst
- Met last month after the general membership meeting. Working on the speaker schedule for 2008, schedule to date includes: speaker for February possibly the Salvation Army or the Red Cross. March — Coast Guard; April — luncheon, Rocco Forte, City of Minneapolis Emergency Response Office, Topic — The 35W Bridge Collapse; May — Army 55th Support Team; June — Xcel Plant Tour; July — open; Aug — River Cruise; Sep and Oct are open; Nov — Todd Kraus, NOA; and Dec is open. Possible other speakers contacted — State Duty Officer, Corps of Engineers, and MPCA enforcement.
Old Business — Mike Thompson
- 2008 Wakota CAER Board of Directors — New board members were introduced.
- Website Redesign — Mike Pliml — the website redesign has begun, please give any suggestions for format or content to Mike.
- 2008 Membership Renewals — Colleen Stelmach — 2008 renewals were mailed out in late December. Members were reminded to be sure and sign in on the roster sheet for each meeting. The membership incentive program is based on the sign-in sheet. If you are new to Wakota CAER meetings be sure to include your email address on the sign-in sheet. All meeting notices are sent out by email.
