What We Do
- Encourage interagency coordination/cooperation in response and planning.
- Ensure that plans for dealing with emergencies are coordinated between the public and private sectors and various government jurisdictions.
- Provide for exchange of technical information, expertise and development.
- Support, coordinate and cooperate with other organizations with similar objectives.
- Serve as a clearing house for ideas, efforts, suggestions, or programs that mutually benefit those responsible in emergency response in the communities.
How We Do It
Wakota CAER partners with public and private sectors to carry out its organizational objectives. Much of our work is accomplished through the efforts of our committees:
- Training and Exercise Committee
- Community Awareness Committee
Training and Exercise Committee
- Promotes improvements of emergency equipment, training, facilities and programs through the development, conducting, and evaluation of emergency exercises.
- Provides training on specialty response equipment.
- Analyzes and critiques emergency exercises/drills done by companies and organizations in our area.
- Manages and oversees river response policy and equipment.

Community Awareness Committee
- Develops community awareness and response programs for hazardous materials and natural disasters.
- Establishes relationships with community organizations to communicate information about dealing with hazards.
- Provides public relations support for the organization.

Partnerships
Wakota CAER partners with public and private sectors to carry out its organizational objectives. Our members represent government, industry, school districts, and first response agencies.
